MTB Superyachts Forum in Prague

Steve Vickery, Director of Safeguard Helideck Certification, flew out to Prague in June for two days of scheduled meetings at the ‘Meet the Buyer’ Superyachts Forum, managed by Copland Events.  It was a busy couple of days for Steve who had 15 meetings scheduled with Designers, Shipyard Managers, Builders, Yacht Management Companies, Owner’s Representatives and Naval Architects, all of whom were keen to know more about the safe design and operation of Superyacht Helicopter Landing Areas.

With 33 years’ experience in Maritime Aviation, having spent 22 years in the Royal Navy and a further 13 in Safety Consultancy for the Maritime sector of the MOD, Steve’s extensive knowledge and experience of Marine Engineering and Ship/Air Integration was in high demand.

“The Forum was busy, fun and rewarding”, said Steve who had a full appointment book on both days.  “It was a great opportunity to share some of our expertise in the safe design and operation of Superyacht Helidecks and to consider some of the challenges facing our superyacht colleagues. It is increasingly apparent to us that as owners’ requests for their superyachts become ever more complex there is a real need to put helideck safety and compliance high on the agenda.”

As a Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) approved Aviation Inspection Body (AIB), Safeguard Helideck Certification is fully conversant with the international standards and codes required for helideck operations and is well placed to advise on helideck design, procedures, operation and modification.

Steve is an MCA accredited Lead Surveyor for the inspection and certification of Superyacht Helidecks.
